In this episode of the DTALKS Podcast, the dads share some of the bonus content normally reserved for the $2 and up tiers of their Patreon.

The bonus segments are as follows:

  • The Desire For Personal Peace
  • Can We Call an Audible?
  • 90's Nostalgia
  • The Target Bathroom Story

The above content features a conversation about wanting to simplify our lives as we grow older, a segment that quickly suffered from wobbly wheels, Joe's story about Pizza Hut and Galan's experience dressing up as a Ninja Turtle for a middle school talent show, and Galan's shameless attempt at sophomoric humor.

Please consider visiting the DTALKS Podcast Patreon and signing up!

While some of our bonus content might be R-rated, this episode of The DTALKS Podcast contains content you'd find in an PG-13 movie. That language is not be safe for most work environments, for your kids, and listener discretion is advised.

Edit: Sorry for the reupload...the intro was missing the full Patreon URL.

In this episode of the DTALKS Podcast, the dads discuss having the talk with our kids about alcohol, peer pressure, and how we are aiming to handle how we intend to teach them about the dangers alcohol can bring.

There are a lot of resources out there and alcohol and the dangers of underage drinking are important subjects to discuss with your kid. As parents, we are the first exposure and line of influence our kids experience when it comes to drinking. It is our responsibility to have open communication about this, answer the questions we can, and find the answers we don't know.

In this episode of the DTALKS Podcast, the dads revisit the second segment of their original conversation with Cinto Ramos, Jr. Back in August of last year, we started out a conversation that went in a VERY interesting direction when we broached the subject of being a Hispanic dad here in Texas, especially given the prevalence of racial issues in the news at the time.

Sometimes, life comes first and we were unable to record an episode, but it worked out because we have the opportunity to share one of the most impact 30 minute stretches of time in the history of our podcast.

In this episode of the DTALKS Podcast, the dads welcome back previous guest Cinto Ramos Jr. and his friend Frank Minikon Jr, COO of Melanin Origins, a company that publishes children's books, to discuss how we pass on what being a man means to our children and what our children should expect from the men in their lives.

There has been a recent news of a number of celebrities' acting inappropriately from a position of power and/or influence. Unfortunately, this kind of behavior extends beyond celebrities and it is important as parents and adults who have an influence on the children in our lives to teach them what to expect from adults, especially men.

This episode finds us briefly wading into a very deep pool of a subject. It is imperative that we teach our kids what is and is not OK for the adults in their lives to do, and that we always offer them a sanctuary in the turbulence of that life inevitably throws our way.

Unfortunately, John was unable to make the interview with Matt due to a death in the family and then caught strep throat when Joe and Galan recorded. As he's everyone's favorite, we're sorry that we couldn't deliver his normal energy with this episode.

In this episode of the DTALKS Podcast, the dads talk about Halloween and trick or treating. We talk about the etiquette and safety of walking door to door, asking strangers for candy, and lessons we can teach through that.

This episode also marks the announcement of our move to Vokal Now and how you'll be able to listen to our show going forward. We are excited for the opportunity to join this platform, especially with their relaunch of the Zoo, a classic rock station in the Dallas/Fort Worth market that many may remember.

In this episode of the DTALKS Podcast, the dads talk about family gatherings, the dog and pony show that they can come where everyone shows off the kids and what they can do, and the pros and cons of putting our kids in that kind of social environment.

This episode marks the premier of a new format ahead of a big announcement coming the week of October 30th, 2017. Instead of a bi-weekly, two hour podcast, we are moving to a weekly half hour or so show. This means more DTALKS Podcast for you and a bit more focus from us.

We will be launching directly into the discussion and ending with a weekly dad joke and how you can connect with us. The other staples of "Catching Up With the Dads" and "Things to Check Out" will be available as free bonus content on our Patreon site.

They may not be weekly, but when we do record them, they will always remain 100% free.
