In this episode of the podcast Joe talks to ANOTHER Joe Shaw, this one based out of the United Kingdom.

These not-so-average Joes discuss leaving a legacy for our children, what kind of art we're creating, and how we can build a more inclusive world amidst the current political climate.

Joseph Shaw is an artist based in Newcastle upon Tyne. His immersive installations tackle the forced obsolescence of technology post-2000, bring to light issues of trustworthiness and distrust of objects and individuals, and question notions of causation and effect (or actions and their reactions) with a permeating dark humour. Shaw’s work has been shown in exhibitions both in the UK and internationally and he is one of the founding members of the Roundabout collective based in Munich, Germany. Shaw graduated from Newcastle University in 2015 and has since become a member of NewBridge Studios.

DISCLOSURE: Documentary by Sam Feder and Amy Scholder

In this episode of the podcast Joe talks to Disclosure documentary director: Sam Feder.

Joe and Sam discuss transgender representation in media, and how we can all work together to raise more inclusive kids.

Be sure to go learn all about the documentary at http://www.disclosurethemovie.com/
and click below to go watch the movie on Netflix: https://www.netflix.com/title/81284247

DISCLOSURE is an unprecedented, eye-opening look at transgender depictions in film and television, revealing how Hollywood simultaneously reflects and manufactures our deepest anxieties about gender. Leading trans thinkers and creatives, including Laverne Cox, Lilly Wachowski, Yance Ford, Mj Rodriguez, Jamie Clayton, and Chaz Bono, share their reactions and resistance to some of Hollywood’s most beloved moments. Grappling with films like A Florida Enchantment (1914), Dog Day Afternoon, The Crying Game, and Boys Don’t Cry, and with shows like The Jeffersons, The L-Word, and Pose, they trace a history that is at once dehumanizing, yet also evolving, complex, and sometimes humorous. What emerges is a fascinating story of dynamic interplay between trans representation on screen, society’s beliefs, and the reality of trans lives. Reframing familiar scenes and iconic characters in a new light, director Sam Feder invites viewers to confront unexamined assumptions, and shows how what once captured the American imagination now elicit new feelings. Disclosure provokes a startling revolution in how we see and understand trans people.

In this episode of the podcast Joe invites Brian the Birth Guy back to the podcast to discuss what it has been like for babies being born in the age of Covid-19.

Brian provides his experience dealing with the hospital and assisting expectant parents during this difficult time.

Be sure to go grab Brian's incredible book "The Birth Guy's Go-To Guide for New Dads" today at BirthGuyBook.com

- After years of supporting couples in both the delivery room and the recovery room as a birth doula, Brian Salmon noticed a theme. The dads and birth partners he worked with rarely felt confident or prepared for the journey ahead of them. Brian was determined to change this. He created the Rocking Dads™ course to teach expectant dads everything they need to know in order to be a supportive birth and breastfeeding partner. Next, he partnered with relationship and perinatal mental health expert, Kirsten Brunner, to transfer his many years of experience and wisdom into book form. The result is an easy-to-read guide, full of practical, modern-day survival tips for expectant dads & birth partners. -

What would you do if your voice was suddenly gone?
If you were the leader of a company how would you lead?
Would the people around you feel empowered to lead?
Would you ensure they succeeded?

Kevin Hancock found himself without a voice one day and had to rely on strengthening the voices of all individuals through listening, empowering, and shared leadership in order to get the work done.

Kevin Hancock is the CEO of Hancock Lumber Company, one of the oldest and best known family businesses in America. Established in 1848, the company grows trees and manufactures lumber for global distribution.

About his latest book 'The Seventh Power': “From his home in Maine to Navajo and Lakota communities in the West to Ukraine, Kevin Hancock takes the reader on a personal journey of more than 15,000 miles in which he learns to listen and empower people. The Seventh Power is an exploration of a new model of leadership in which individual voices are heard and the human spirit is celebrated. The principles that Kevin puts to work in his 171-year-old family business offer an enlightened way forward for all institutions.” —U.S. Senator Susan Collins

I've struggled with how best to address the current state of the world. I decided, with the platform I have I wanted to address how to be a better ally. The best way to do that right now is to listen and learn from those who have been in this struggle all the time.

You'll hear from Frank Minikon Jr, Anthony Roberts, and Jacinto Ramos Jr about race relations in America.

You'll hear music from The Reverend Shawn Amos and Fantastic Negrito, go purchase their music.

Here at The DTALKS Podcast we believe Black Lives Matter, I hope this episode allows you to continue the conversation of racial equality in your home.

Thank you,
